Dr. Nate Young, Ph.D.

My name is Nate Young, and I am a guest researcher and former Marie Skłodowska-Curie research fellow (2021-2023) at The Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies at the University of Oslo. I have a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Queen Mary, University of London.

I work on innovative speech-language technology for the Nordic languages, and I do research on variation and change, focusing on big data and hyper-scalability. A newer interest of mine includes forensic linguistics.

 

My formal education is in "Labovian" variationist sociolinguistics, a quantitative field that mainly concerns itself with understanding variation and change in the sound system of a language.
